Proof of medical treatment and diagnosis are needed to be eligible for the Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022. Medical records that show you have one of the 15 conditions associated with the water are necessary to file a lawsuit. Documents must contain dates of diagnosis and any bills from medical treatment.

The Act would permit people who lived or worked or were harmed as unborn children at Camp Lejeune between 1953 and 1987 to file a toxic water lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Eastern North Carolina. There will likely be a two-year deadline to sue from the date of the enactment.

The Camp LeJeune Justice Act of 2022 passed the Senate on June 16th, 2022, and is now waiting for a signature from President Biden. The law allows anyone who lived or worked at the base for at least 30 days between 1953 and 1987 and was exposed to its contaminated water to file a claim against the U.S. government.
