great quality for the price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was browsing for a new security camera that met certain requirements for me, and while looking at a much more expensive one, I saw a review that said "my ezviz doesn't have any of these problems" so I looked up ezviz and this camera looked like it met my needs, plus it was on sale, so I got it. I am SO happy with it. Here's the important features to me: Records 24/7 so you can go back and review or save videos No monthly fee, local storage Has a computer app, plus ios/android (this one is windows only, not mac). Motion alert phone notifications I have the camera on the corner of my garage. I was amazed when I saw how much I could view. I can see the door to my house, my gate, up my entire 450ft driveway, and my package delivery box next to the garage. My main purpose for this camera was to monitor what my dogs are doing outside, and to see when someone is coming up the driveway/delivering packages. I can see it all. I got a micro sd card so I could record locally without having to pay for a cloud service. You install the card into the camera and do not have to remove it, you can view everything from your phone or computer. I set mine to record 24/7 and I also leave the live feed open on my ipad so when I'm doing stuff inside, I can monitor outside. The 24/7 recording is GREAT. I got up one morning and saw my bird feeder was smashed and my fence bent. I checked the ezviz app and watched a 45 minute recording of a bear walking across my driveway and knocking the bird feeder down, then he spent like 40 minutes eating bird food. I also still have a blink camera on my driveway and the ezviz camera quality is MUCH better, even in the dark. And the blink camera caught only 10 seconds of the bear. I did have some issues with it. First of all the power cord is only 5ft long. I could have used an extension cord, but my dad installed a new outlet for it on the garage ceiling instead. Second, the wifi receiver on this thing does not seem to be very good. I have a google wifi router in the house window maybe 50ft from where the camera is, and it did not pick it up. My phone gets good wifi in the same spot. What I ended up doing is plugging another google wifi unit in by the camera, inside the garage. That picked up the signal just fine from the house. If you have the capability, use ethernet (says it supports power over ethernet) instead of wifi. That requires running an ethernet cable. And yes, this camera DOES require a power source. It is not battery operated. The motion alerts aren't very accurate. Sometimes it doesn't give any, even though we are walking in front of it. Other times it won't stop notifying, for every little bug that flies by. The live view is live with barely any delay, if at all, but for the motion alerts you have to wait a minute to see what it was. Or, instantly you can just open the live feed when motion is detected. But if it was just a bug or bird, you have to wait a minute to see what set it off. My blink cameras have motion alerts for this fox that walks by every night but the video on those misses most of the action and is terrible. So I just use those to check the timestamp, then go on the ezviz replay and see a higher quality video of the fox (or bear) Tip: before mounting the camera and climbing down from your ladder, write down the code from the camera sticker...because you will need it to connect to the app on your devices.

Great camera not so great app
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera works great, really like that you can use an sd card and not have to use internet for it. We do not like the app as well as Zmodo, not very user friendly. We would like to be able to see previews of what is recorded instead of having to watch it all to see what wildlife came around. Also would like a fast replay of the whole day like Zmodo has. The intelligent human detection does work very well though. Not always an immediate notification, but usually pretty quick. Good night vision.

Okay but not great
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had these for a while now. They work okay, not great. The problem is the WiFi is so outdated. Installation was easy and the connection seemed okay but I kept getting a notice on the screen that said the network was unstable and suggested I switch to a lower resolution. That kind of defeats the purpose of buying a hi-def camera. I purchased a WiFi extender and put it outside on the porch within 10 feet of the camera and still kept getting the same message of an unstable network. I finally ran an Ethernet cord out to the camera and plugged that in. That solved the unstable network notice but makes having the wireless camera pointless. I give this three stars because the camera actually works but the WiFi is really in need of upgrading. If I had it to do over I would have just purchased a wired camera and saved the money I spent on the wireless.

Pretty good little camera
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does OK. Better at night vision than others we have used. Like the color night vision option. The antennas are kinda meh. One was loose when it arrived and we couldn’t find a way to tighten that. We’re still tweaking the settings, but it does good motion capture once you find the setting that works for you. Location of that setting in the app is not intuitive.

Q: QuestionIs this wireless, or does it require a wire to plug into outlet? is it easy to install to your wifi network?
Asked by Scott.
- A:Answer This is not wireless for electrical, only for wifi. You need to be fairly close to an electrical outlet. If it's more than 4 feet or so, then you need to purchase an extension cord with the proper connectors to match the power cord that comes with the camera. It is very easy to connect to your wifi. You should be able to find a video on YouTube that shows you how.

Q: QuestionCan you talk through app
Asked by Kc.
- A:Answer No, there is no two way conversation ability. The camera microphone has the ability to pick up noises indoors or out, but you cannot speak through the camera microphone. Just an FYI, there is an option on the app to shut off the microphone on the camera completely if you so desire.

Q: QuestionWould this camera work through a glass window?
Asked by PB.
- A:Answer The indoor cameras work okay through glass, but reflection seems to effect the quality of the pictures. And if the lights on the camera are on, and you have the camera set up behind glass, all you get is the light from the camera reflecting off of the glass...there is no picture at all. I have not tried using the outdoor camera behind glass.
